Please take extra care when you’re walking-working surfaces. Slip, trip, fall type injuries are of special concern during this part of the year.

To avoid injury:

  • Salt/shovel your walking/working surfaces FIRST!!!!
  • Walk slowly and deliberately.
  • Wear boots or other slip-resistant footwear.
  • Be prepared for black-ice formation after melting occurs (keep that salt ready to go near doors and work areas).
  • Exercise EXTREME caution when getting in or out of vehicles – look before you leap!
  • Watch for slippery floors when entering buildings! (the melt areas)
  • Avoid carrying items. Keeping hands empty allows arms to stabilize movement. Use backpacks if possible.
