Good afternoon everyone! I would just like to say how excited and thankful I am for this opportunity to be a part of the 2018 Build U internship program. This will be my first internship in the construction field and I can’t wait to get to learn and grow through this process. I started on May 7th and have been working up at the Pontiac job site learning the ins and outs of the PDPM process. My mentor Matt Suokas along with Dylan Cook have been helping me learn more on estimating and have been putting me to work. This past week has been filled with attending many pre-bid walkthroughs, meetings, and learning how to complete the PDPM estimating documents.
Also, this past week one of the walkthroughs I attended was one for a roof replacement. It was fun going up on the roof and looking around, we were up there for a while too because there was a lot of roof to be covered. It was nice to enjoy the sun for a little and get out of the office. Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve done so far here (see attached photo). Overall, I am having fun learning as much as I can while being here. It’s been nice to apply what I have learned in school to what I am doing here and vice versa. I have already learned so much and have been having a blast; I can’t wait to see what else this summer has in store for me!
