Hello everyone,
Last Monday, I started off my week with an emergency job. There was a serious leak in a previously thought shutdown steam pit that was flowing onto a highly trafficked intersection here at the WTC. After investigating the problem, we found that when that pit was shut down, the subcontractor on the job missed turning off one of the condensate lines which was the cause of the problem.
For the rest of the week, we were just getting back into the swing of things following the holiday week and July Shutdown. I have continued working with my mentor, Dan Salkowski, on his jobs. I’ve been able to help with his paperwork load by working on excavation permits, contracts, change orders, proposals, estimates, estimate/job number requests, and more. I have been getting more responsibilities from Dan as the summer has progressed. I have been enjoying this and learning a lot.
On Friday, the Build U interns met to go over our community project at Scarcyny Park, and to assign tasks for our assignment. We also got a bite to eat at a restaurant called Bakersfield in Detroit and everyone had a good time.
I hope everyone has a great day.
Sincerely,
Jacob Rhodes
