Week 3 – Toyota Ann Arbor – Andrew McElwee

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone had a chance to spend time with family and relax outside this last weekend, there was definitely plenty of sun! So for this shorter week, there was more prep for the upcoming cafeteria renovation at the Toyota site. I was able to learn even more about the beginning steps on a project. We had several Pre-Award meetings with the subcontractors to discuss their part on the project.  Also, the submittal log we created last week were used to compare the submittals sent by the subcontractors to ensure it met the customer’s needs.
The powertrain expansion is still wrapping up, we’re finishing the last tasks requested by Toyota and working to finish the punch list. What we mainly have left is going “green” on Kanbans to turn over the few final pieces of equipment to Toyota and finishing up the placard for those pieces of equipment.
Excited to be learning much more about the processes of hard-dollar construction and seeing them in practice. Also really looking forward to the cafeteria project as it gets moving so I can assist in the process and help finish this project.
