Hello Everyone,
This week at the Milford Proving Grounds we have been busy getting all the estimates ready for the projects beginning during July shutdown. My Mentor and I have been working on the Paving projects that will be going on during the shutdown period. Certain sections are high priority and will need to be completed during shutdown to help minimize the disturbance to the owners. High traffic areas are being targeted for completion during the shutdown. GM also wants to add an expansion to Lot A that will serve a dual purpose. This lot will provide more spaces as well as extra event space for car shows and other such events that are held at the Proving Grounds. I did the quantity takeoffs for the concrete and excavation for the lot expansion project. This was the first time I was able to use the estimating skills I have learned in school and apply it to a real life project.
Today (Friday, June 1st) Ed took me to the B-94 steam vault replacement project that will begin tomorrow (Saturday). The Ideal team was marking the spots that needed to be saw cut and removed, as well as setting up the safety barriers. The steam line will be the first large project I will get to see all the way through. This project will have its difficulties but I am eager to see how the Ideal team works through this difficult project.
