Week 1 – MPG/Intern Orientation – Michael Penland

Hello Everyone,
I would like to start off by saying that I’m excited to be apart of the Build U program this summer. This will be my first internship in the construction field and look forward to learn the ins and outs of the industry. My first day at Ideal was on May 7th and I am working at the Milford Proving Grounds with my mentor Steve Webster. On Wednesday, May 16th Ideal held the 2018 intern orientation in building C where we learned about the company and played Jenga. After the orientation we attended the Tigers vs. Indians baseball game and had a chance to network with our fellow interns as well as other employees of Ideal. It was a great way to meet the people of the company and get to know them on a more personal level.
I have been working at Milford for 2 weeks now and I’m now starting to get the feel of the PDPM process. The work is starting to pick up out at MPG and have had a chance to attend some pre-bid meetings as well as a few walk through. I can’t wait to see what this summer has in store.
