Automotive + Manufacturing
LGES-Honda are building a new lithium-ion battery plant in Jeffersonville, Ohio. This plant is critical to Honda’s long-term plans to exclusively sell battery-electric and fuel-cell electric vehicles by 2040. Ideal Contracting self-performed the erection of over 30,000 tons of structural steel for the battery plant while serving as a trade partner to tri-venture of Turner-Yates-Kokosing (TYK).
As is often the case, the schedule was an important factor in this project, with construction beginning well before the completion of the design. Additionally, a large manpower commitment was required to adequately support the project. Ideal Contracting proactively engaged our experienced Local 25 ironworkers from Detroit and melded them with the ironworkers drawn from Dayton Local 290. This experience proved critical when the added work and design changes inevitably began to hit, ultimately allowing Ideal to limit the impacts to the overall schedule with increased manpower and efficiencies.
As one of the first companies on this site, Ideal Contracting held a major influence on the project workforce by setting a positive example in professionalism, quality, and safety, all of which were often commented on by the owner and client personnel on-site.
