Ideal Contracting partnered with DeMaria to deliver Henry Ford Health a new parking deck for its West Bloomfield location. The now-completed five-tier parking deck is a 257,000 SF precast concrete structure with (630) parking spaces for visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
The first level of the parking deck offers extensive van parking, with (24) handicap parking spaces, as well as (12) electric vehicle charging stations. Two entrances will serve cars arriving from the east main entrance drive and the west emergency entrance parking areas. The parking deck is equipped with two elevator towers and a covered walkway for convenient access to the hospital’s East Main Entrance and the Emergency Department.
The structure features embedded brick masonry to match the design of the existing Henry Ford Hospital. The deck’s lighting system includes LED fixtures for low energy use, with nighttime dimming and presence detectors to further the structure’s energy conservation. The top tiers of the parking deck have hidden lighting fixtures to minimize the visual impact on surrounding neighbors of the hospital. Additionally, a small detention pond was integrated into the construction of the parking deck to mitigate any impact of existing wetlands or pond areas. Comprehensive landscaping was also installed around the HFH West Bloomfield Parking Deck to match that of the existing hospital and to enhance the hospital grounds.
