Automotive + Manufacturing
Ideal Contracting was awarded the General Motors Building 31 Emissions Sustainment project, which consisted of the build-out of (4) new 4WD Dynamometer test cells. The project was awarded as a design-build delivery and presented unique challenges because the building remained occupied during construction with operational test cells directly adjacent to the work area.
The scope of work consisted of the complete demolition of all facilities and infrastructure of four existing test cells including control rooms, dynamometer equipment, and associated foundations, slabs on grade, HVAC equipment, electrical infrastructure, and all supporting testing equipment and materials as required to build the new testing facilities. The construction of the new facilities included foundations and test pits for new dynamometer equipment, slabs, structural and misc. steel, architectural wall systems, power distribution, and life safety systems. General Motors performed two major shutdowns during construction, which were critical to the Ideal team to complete the project on schedule.
