Project Overview

As a major renovation for FCA, the SHAP 2018 program included a complete renovation to the 356,250-square-foot Sterling Heights Assembly Paint South Paint Shop. The newly renovated paint shop produces the final painting and coating of the RAM 1500 Truck series.

Throughout the project, Ideal installed 814 tons of structural steel along with 114 tons of miscellaneous steel. This included the installation of the monorail and penthouse platform, base, and clear coat powder booth infill steel, gratings, and walkways. Phase two consisted of 138 cubic yards of concrete installation for base coat, clear coat, and powder booths.

This project presented unique challenges to the Ideal team. The materials had to be strategically coordinated with multiple trades to get in and out of the building on time to meet the demand of the project schedule.
