Project Overview

Ideal Contracting partnered with Motor City Electric to deliver a new 40-acre solar field on a reclaimed brownfield site in Detroit. The 10-megawatt renewable energy project, part of a development agreement between the City of Detroit and DTE Energy, transformed underutilized land into a valuable source of clean energy for the community.

As a key trade partner, Ideal self-performed the civil, concrete, and pile-and-rack installation work, including approximately 12,400 linear feet of ductbank excavation, installation of 2,227 foundation piles, and placement of more than 500 racking systems to support the solar array.

The project team successfully navigated challenging site conditions, including demolition debris and other legacy waste materials left behind from previous neighborhood cleaning efforts. Through close collaboration and a longstanding partnership, Motor City Electric and Ideal Contracting delivered a successful project that will provide renewable energy benefits to the Detroit area for years to come.
