Project Overview

Ideal Contracting installed approximately 1,300 LF of UL752 Level 10 Rated Ballistic Barrier for DTE. The project planning and execution of the barrier installation were paramount, requiring soft dig methods to identify unknown buried obstructions before installing the drilled pier foundations.

The main scope of work consisted of installing steel-grade beams and columns on top of concrete piers that were then filled with either precast or steel infill ballistic panels. Also installed were 42 drilled concrete shaft piers with pile caps. The scope of work required low-headroom installation methods to maintain safe clearances from high-voltage overhead wires. The barrier’s flexible design, custom heights, and lengths do not obstruct airflow and are rated for winds up to 150 MPH.

Project Highlights

  • 1,300 LF of ballistic barrier
