Project Overview:
Ideal Contracting was awarded the contract for a new banking facility on Eight-mile and Woodward in Detroit, Michigan. The construction of the new bank was designed to relocate and replace an existing branch on Dequindre Road.
The project began with the demolition of two existing buildings to make way for the construction of the new 3,650 SF branch. However, due to the number of buildings and additions to those buildings, there were four electrical services, three water services, and three gas services that needed to be removed.
One of the many features of this bank is its advanced security vestibule that uses access technology in conjunction with metal detectors to keep the staff and customers safe. The vestibule had to be constructed outside of the building and then subsequently rolled into place to be tied into the facility.
Throughout the project, Ideal Contracting managed 17 subcontractors and 8 owner subcontractors. Ideal self-performed all civil, steel, and concrete work for the project which consisted of removing 4,700 yards of dirt, pouring 225 yards of concrete, and the installation of a 90 ft x 30 ft underground detention system. In total, the project was completed with 20,101 manhours, over 6,000 of them being for Ideal’s self-perform work. The project started in November 2021 and was completed in September 2022 with high praise from the owner. The branch was opened to the public shortly after project completion.
