Project Overview:
Ideal Contracting was the Design-Build General Contractor responsible for converting a portion of the existing GM Spring Hill Assembly Center Powertrain facility into a new Logistics Operations Center (LOC) in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
The scope of work involved the installation of 40 new truck dock doors in the Powertrain Plant and the reworking of five new truck dock locations at the General Assembly Building. The work activities included general demolition, slab-on-grade concrete, site excavation and concrete, fire loop relocations, HVAC modification, utility monitoring, and new controls for the dock doors. Ideal Contracting self- performed much of this work, including the structural steel for the new truck docks, carpentry/drywall, re-steel, and concrete.
The contract also included the installation of a 400 foot-long covered Tugger Tunnel roadway connecting the General Assembly building to the Powertrain Facility to allow for Tugger traffic.
