Project Overview:

The Saginaw Metal Casting Operations (SMCO) HFV6 Plant Renovation program consisted of Design-Build and General Contracting services for the complete renovation of 300,000-square-feet in an active plant environment.  The project supports the equipment for the new metal casting process.

The project consisted of removing and replacing the existing slab on grade, removal of the entire mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems.  New mechanical and electrical utilities were designed, engineering, and installed to support the process areas. A 15,000-square-foot building addition was designed, engineered, and constructed to support chemical tanks.  All existing abandoned basements were filled with flowable fill.

Ideal Contracting self-performed all structural and miscellaneous steelwork which consisted of removal of existing columns, beams, handrails and stairs as needed, reinforcing required to support new core machines, and steel framing for the 15,000-square-foot building expansion, and new sand decks to support the new process equipment.
