Project Overview:

The Logistical Operations Center involved full Design-Build services for four building additions, totaling 425,000-square-feet, to the active Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plant.

The scope included 20,000-cubic-yards of concrete, 100 tons of re-steel, 2,600 tons of structural steel, (8) air rotation units, (30) dock doors and associated loading dock equipment, (35) unit heaters and (6) adjustable wheel risers.  Ideal Contracting was responsible for the full design and commissioning of these components.  One of the projects greatest challenges was battling the worst winter weather the area had seen in 100 years.  In order to store new equipment being installed in the existing plant, the customer required the slab on grade (SOG) and building to be weather-tight. The adverse weather forced Ideal to think outside the box in preparing the sub-grade for SOG placements.  Ideal Contracting utilized soil stabilization methods in order to provide an adequate sub base for the SOG placements. In doing so, Ideal was able to meet the customer’s request for storage inside the new buildings and maintain the project schedule.
