Project Overview:
Over the course of two years, Ideal Contracting installed approximately 1,300 LF of UL752 Level 10 Rated Ballistic Barrier.
The project planning and execution of the barrier installation were paramount, requiring soft dig methods to identify unknown buried obstructions prior to the installation of the drilled pier foundations.
The main scope of work consisted of installing steel grade beams and columns on top of concrete piers that were then filled with either precast or steel infill ballistic panels. There were also 42 drilled concrete shaft piers with pile caps that were installed. The scope of work required low headroom installation methods to maintain safe clearances from high voltage overhead wires.
The ballistic barrier itself meets Nerc Cip-014 security requirements for Bulk Power Systems and offers lab-certified Ul 752, Level 3, 4, 8, 10 Ballistics Protection. The barrier’s flexible design, custom heights and lengths do not obstruct airflow and are rated for winds up to 150 MPH. The painting and site restoration for this project were completed on time in Spring 2017.
