Ideal Contracting successfully completed the Michigan Stadium Scoreboard Replacement project earlier this year. This project enhances the gameday experience for the hundreds of thousands of fans attending football games each year. Our team was responsible for the installation of (4) deep caisson foundations and new infrastructure to expand the North and South scoreboards of Michigan Stadium. The scope also included new landscaping around the scoreboard concourse areas and a renovated video production center in Crisler Arena. Ideal Contracting worked intently with the UM’s construction management team to carry out the project’s scope of work within the tight timeframe between the end of the 2022-2023 football season to the beginning of the 2023-2024 season. A highlight of this uniquely exciting project was the erection of the (4) new scoreboard columns, with each weighing approximately 70 tons. With the scoreboard expansions complete, Michigan Stadium now has the most video board square footage in college football, and each of the (2) scoreboards can individually be classified as the third largest in college football!
