What are you looking to get out of this internship?
From this internship, I hope to gain some exposure to the field side of the construction industry. Although construction management slightly differs from civil engineering, I can still get exposure to some aspects of CE. Going into the field every day and learning from everyone on site regarding things such as shoring, underground pipe work, etc. will be useful when I go back to the classroom and in my future career.
What goals do you have within the construction industry?
My long-term goal is to study and hopefully pursue a career in highway design and construction along with my other interest in bridge design and construction. I will have it narrowed down as I move forward with my studies.
What has been the best experience in the Build U Internship Program so far?
The best experience so far would be the team outings we had. It gives us a chance to leave our computer screens and travel to a new place and meet new people. It is wonderful to see what they do and get hands-on experience with things such as building a scaffold or operating an excavator.
