The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory is a true gem of Detroit, and because of it’s sheer beauty and historical significance, its earning some impressive recognition for the recent renovations and upgrades completed by Ideal Contracting.
Our team, alongside our partners at G.H. Forbes Associates Architects, were honored to formally accept a 2026 Build Michigan Award from the AGC of Michigan last month at the AGC’s Annual Meeting. This marks the fourth award the conservatory project has earned since its completion in December 2024.

The amount of precision, craftsmanship, and careful detail that goes into these projects does not go unnoticed. Over 1,500 individual glass panes were replaced throughout the building, as well as extensive structural steel restoration and replacement.
Having been a gathering place for Metro Detroiters and visitors from across the country since the early 1900s, the restoration of the conservatory marked a new beginning for this cherished Belle Isle landmark.
