MAGNA & BuildU Volunteer Day – Tony Saucedo

For the past few years, Ideal Contracting has partnered with employees at Magna International, a manufacturing company, to do a volunteer day at our Cadillac Urban Gardens (CUG). CUG provides fresh vegetables for local community members to come in and take. Ideal also holds several after-work community events at the garden throughout the summer. Duties for this volunteer day included shoveling and moving dirt around, cutting weeds, sweeping, planting, coloring pieces of wood to add aesthetic value, moving wood around, and more. We were able to meet and mingle with members of the Magna team as well as our GDYT interns. We followed the instruction of CUG leaders including Sarah, Chris, Dolores, and Jackie, a former Ideal Group intern and now a Magna employee, for leading, directing, and guiding all of us volunteers. It is great to be able to give back to a community with so much promise and potential.
