Ideal Contracting’s Carillon Tower at Oakland University

Oakland University in Rochester, MI is adding a Carillon tower complete with 49 bells, clocks on 4 faces, and a titanium roof. Ideal Contracting was brought in early to work directly with the Construction Manager Barton Malow, Project Architect Niagara-Murano, and Structural Engineer Desai-Nasr. Taking a design assist role, multiple aspects were taken into consideration including constructability, ability to modular install, and later bell installation and maintenance. With Ideal’s input, the design team came up with a roof structure that could be a stand-alone, pre-assembled rigid structure, allowing all the shingles to be attached on the ground. We are very excited to see the results!
