Today I had the chance to visit with Travis in Flint. The main thing that I wanted to see was two massive AHU’s that were being lifted onto the roof. These AHU’s are brought to the job site in pieces, and then they are assembled on a trailer, and hauled to the crane when they are ready to lift them into place. They use a custom built frame and rigging to hold each AHU, as their shape and size makes it too difficult to lift normally. Once the unit is on the roof, it gets oriented into place using the tag lines, and there was four iron workers in man lifts who would secure the AHU to the structure. After it is secured, a second smaller piece is lifted and bolted onto the top of the AHU using a different rigging method.
