Build-U interns had the privilege of visiting the Nucor Vulcraft campus in St. Joe, Indiana, near Fort Wayne. Vulcraft is a producer of steel products, including joists, joist girders, steel decks, floor joists, and more. Ideal Contracting has been a loyal customer of Vulcraft for many of their American-made, high-quality steel products.
The interns’ first stop in the facility was to learn about the manufacturing process of joists. Joist began in the raw material stage and move through an assembly line to the final stages of painting and shipping to customers. They also toured the steel decking facility where they observed steel decking being manufactured from the steel coil stage to the final product.

Vulcraft has a lot of pride in the work that they do. Our Build-U interns gained a great deal of knowledge during the trip and were grateful for the invitation by Vulcraft.
